HealthOne's Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital is one of the top stroke rehabilitation centers in Denver, Colorado and the nation. As the first licensed rehabilitation hospital in Colorado, our vision is Rebuilding Lives, Renewing Hope. We are proud to have been recently accredited by CARF for our stroke rehabilitation program with no recommendations or changes needed.
Spalding’s Young Adult Stroke Program provides a comprehensive continuum of care for stroke patients between the ages of 18-64, with concentrated focus on meeting the unique goals and rehabilitation needs for this population. We offer a full range of inpatient and outpatient treatment to help stroke patients become as independent as possible and to attain the best possible quality of life.
The rate of stroke is ever-increasing at the greatest rate amongst those in the 40-60 year old range1. Nationally, the incidence of stroke in patients 20-45 has nearly doubled in the past 20 years. The national average age of a patient’s first stroke was 71.3 years from 1993-1994 but dropped to 70.9 in 1999 and to 68.4 by 2005 2.
With incidences of stoke for patients under 65 ever increasing, our program is geared to meet the distinct needs and priorities of the young adult stroke patient. Our experienced, multidisciplinary team will develop an individualized program to increase independence with mobility and self-care activities. Additionally the team focuses on the more challenging demands of parenting, working, and driving and community involvement. Special emphasis is placed on patient and family education and training. The primary goal of the program is to maximize independence and return to community and a productive healthy lifestyle.
The program goal is achieved through a highly integrated team of physicians, nurses and therapists specializing in physical, psychological, occupational and speech/cognitive rehabilitation. This team of experts in stroke rehabilitation, work together to meet the physical, cognitive, medical and emotional needs of the young stroke patient. Our programs include Inpatient Rehabilitation, Day Rehabilitation and Outpatient Therapy Services. A patient may be admitted to any one of the programs based on the severity of illness and medical needs.
